Dunlap is a scenic town located just northwest of Chattanooga, about a 35 minute drive, in Sequatchie County, Tennessee. As of July 1, 2005, Dunlap's population is estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau at 4,681, making the city one of the fastest growing in the Southeast Tennessee region.

A small friendly town, Dunlap takes you back in time, with its older homes and sidewalks, one feels like their going back in time. This area has some of the most gorgeous land you will every see, from the valleys to the surrounding mountains. With its mild climate, friendly people and mountain views its easy to see why this area is experiencing such growth.

If your looking for something different or the unusual you may just find it at the World´s Longest Yardsale also know as the 127 Corridor Sale, which will be held August 7-10, 2008. You´ll find homeowners and dealer´s selling everything from antiques to junk or maybe it´s another persons treasure but you´re sure to have a good time.

You´re going to meet some interesting people, neat places along with quaint stops that you will want to take pictures of. So don´t forget the camera and a good pair of walking shoes! Oh, one last item plenty of cash, have fun!

A couple of other places you may want to visit are the D.M. Harris Park and the old Dunlap Coke Ovens Park. In 1982 the city of Dunlap leased a tract of land from the D.M. Harris heirs to establish a city park. In July of 1996 Ms. Addie Lou Harris agreed to donate and deed over the property to the city in memory of Mr. Harris and now named the D.M. Harris Park. The park is a favorite place with locals for picnics or to let the kids play on the playground.

If you´re a history buff or just enjoy hiking you will want to check out the historic Dunlap Coke Ovens Park, a 62 acre park located in the heart of Sequatchie County, TN. Here you can explore the remains of coke ovens used in the early 1900´s to convert mountain coal into industrial coke, a product used to smelt iron ore. There is a museum where you will find photos and artifacts from the early 1900´s. Each year on the first Friday and Saturday in June the Coke Ovens Bluegrass Festival is held, so mark your calendar if you enjoy Bluegrass music.
